YAY! And you know what else is exciting about all of this, I have backstory plotted out in my head! How John was a veteran of the Cylon Wars who raised his sons under the radar because he was always sure that the Cylons would invade again someday (ie, paranoid nutjob) but Sam said enough is enough and left for school on Caprica and how it was pure luck that Dean was taking him to his first job on Saggitaron when the Cylons attacked. And now they're not sure if John is dead or alive.
Oh, and right after the attack and before they heard the call to join up with Colonial One they were already picking up survivors from ships without FTL drives so the Impala is full to the gills with people and Sam spends all of his time mediating disputes on their ship and other (who knew lawyers would be so in demand after the robot apocalypse?) and Dean starts to get kinda claustrophobic so he spends a lot of time on Galactica with the knuckledraggers working on vipers and the like.
It's you I have to thank. If it wasn't for your birthday I never would've had the fun of making these two worlds collide. \o/
